Cranbrook Airport

This study was undertaken for the City of Cranbrook and Canadian Rockies International Airport (CRIA) by Davies Transportation Consulting Inc. as prime contractor, in association with Darryl Anderson of Wave Point Consulting Ltd. The purpose of the study was to analyse and forecast aviation traffic and provide recommendations to inform CRIA’s strategy for the development of airport lands. CRIA is a Transport Canada-certified airport serving the Eastern Kootenay region.

This project included:

  • A review and forecast of regional air traffic trends, including aircraft movements, passenger traffic, and air cargo.
  • An analysis of industry clusters in the BC aerospace sector, and consultation and interviews with industrial and commercial businesses to identify potential market opportunities for development of aviation-related facilities on the Cranbrook Airport lands.
  • Analysis of other potential commercial opportunities for land development at the airport.
  • An assessment of real estate factors affecting the competitiveness of airport property relative to other locations.
  • An implementation plan.
