Mr. Davies was Project Manager for this study for the City of Surrey. Rapid growth in the local heavy truck population was straining the capacity of existing truck parking facilities, resulting in increased costs and inconvenience to the trucking industry and a high level of non-compliance with the City’s parking bylaws.

The scope of the study included a survey of best practices, a review of bylaws in neighbouring local jurisdictions, and a detailed mapping of the existing Surrey land base to identify potential sites appropriate for development of truck parking lots. The study identified City land use policies as a major constraint in accommodating truck parking demand, and outlined small and large scale solutions which could be pursued by the City.
