Mr. Davies acted as Project Manager for this study for the British Columbia Ministry of Transportation to analyze and model container truck movements in the Lower Mainland. The project included integration and analysis of data on Lower Mainland container truck movements gathered through trip surveys, GPS, RFID and security access records.
A simulation model was designed to estimate the impact of changes to basic system parameters including turn and travel times and trip distribution patterns. On the basis of the data and simulation analysis, recommendations for high priority projects for improving efficiency were developed.
